Bisphenol A: What is it, and is it bad for us?
Bisphenol A (BPA) has been in the news lately. It is a chemical used in the production of plastics. For those of you who remember some high school chemistry, it a monomer used to produce plastic polymers. BPA is found in plastic bottles, plastic containers, baby bottles, and in the lining of cans used for soft drinks and canned foods. BPA is everywhere.
For years, many people suspected BPA was not healthy. There was some data from animal studies, but the first large study in humans was published in September, 2008. Read more…
